Our approach in Hillsboro

Every Drainage Fix Starts With Where the Water Comes From.

From persistent wet spots to water pooling against a foundation, drainage problems rarely fix themselves. We look at where the water comes from, where it collects and where it can safely go, then design a system that manages that flow and protects your home, shop, driveway and landscaping.

Whether it's a seasonal soggy yard or year-round runoff, we choose the right solution for your soil, slope and layout, and install it to last through wet winter after wet winter.

Below-ground drainage

French Drain Installation

A French drain is a trench lined with filter fabric, laid with perforated pipe and backfilled with clean drain rock. It collects water below the surface and carries it away from soggy yards, foundations, shops and driveways, while keeping your landscaping looking the way it should.

We set every run on a steady grade so water keeps moving, and outlet it to a safe spot, whether that's a ditch, a swale or a dry well. Done right, a French drain quietly does its job for years.

Drainage Swales & Dry Creek Beds

A swale is a shallow, graded channel that collects surface runoff and guides it across your land to where it can drain safely. It's one of the simplest ways to stop water from sheeting across a yard, pooling near buildings or washing out a gravel driveway.

Lined with rock, a swale becomes a dry creek bed that handles water flow during storms and adds a natural-looking landscape feature the rest of the year.

Driveways & access roads

Culvert Installation & Replacement

Culverts carry water under driveways, walkways and access roads so it doesn't back up, flood the road or wash out your gravel. We install new culverts sized for the water they need to handle, with a solid rock base and enough cover to stand up to traffic.

When an old culvert is crushed, rusted through or plugged, we dig it out and replace it, then rebuild the driveway over it so you're not left with a soft spot.

Drainage questions

Good Questions. Straight Answers.

How do I know if I need drainage improvements?

Common signs include standing water after rain, a soggy yard that never dries out, a wet basement or crawlspace, erosion, or water pooling near your foundation or across your driveway. We can look at your property and recommend the right fix.

What's the difference between a French drain and a swale?

A French drain collects water below ground with perforated pipe in a trench of clean drain rock. A swale is a shallow, graded channel on the surface that guides runoff away. Many properties use both, and a rock-lined swale doubles as a dry creek bed.

How long do French drains last?

A properly installed French drain can last 15 to 25 years or more with very little maintenance. The keys are a steady grade, filter fabric to keep soil out and clean drain rock around the pipe.

Can drainage handle our heavy winter rain?

Yes, when it's designed and installed right. We size drains, swales and culverts for our wet winters and seasonal downpours, not just a light rain.

When does a culvert need to be replaced?

If a culvert is crushed, rusted through, plugged or too small, water backs up and can flood or wash out your driveway. We remove the old pipe, install a properly sized replacement and rebuild the driveway over it.

How much does drainage work cost?

Every property is different, so we price by the job. Cost depends on the length of drain, the type of solution, site access and materials. We can often give you a rough idea over the phone, then a written estimate after we see the site.
