Gravel & sand delivery

Delivery Questions.

Everything you need to know about ordering gravel, rock and sand delivered to your property.

Ordering & Pricing

Is delivery included in the price?

Yes. Delivery is included in every price, with no separate delivery fees or hidden charges. The price you see for your location is the total you pay.

Why are prices different by location?

Because delivery is built into every price, pricing is set by location. Choose your town on our delivery pricing page to see the delivered price for every material in your area.

How do I order a delivery?

Find your town's price sheet, pick your material and quantity, then submit a delivery request online or call or text 503-680-7446. We'll reach out within 1 business day to get you on the schedule.

How do I pay?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash and checks. After delivery we'll email you an invoice to pay online, or you can pay by cash or check at the time of delivery.

Do you offer same-day or next-day delivery?

It depends on our schedule and your location. We work to accommodate rush requests when we can, but scheduling a few days ahead is the best way to get your material when you need it.

What areas do you deliver to?

We deliver to communities across Columbia, Washington and Multnomah counties, including St. Helens, Scappoose, Rainier, Vernonia, Clatskanie, Warren, Deer Island, Goble, Columbia City, North Plains, Hillsboro, NW Portland and Sauvie Island. Don't see your town? Call or text and we'll let you know if we can deliver.

Delivery Day

Do I have to be home for delivery?

No. You can place a marker where you'd like the material dumped, or text us a photo showing the spot. Just make sure we have clear instructions so we can place your material in the right place.

Will you confirm before you deliver?

Yes. We'll follow up before delivery to confirm the details, including your material, quantity and where you want it dumped.

What should I tell you about my property?

Anything that helps us get in and out safely: gate codes, whether we need to back down the driveway, low wires or branches, soft ground, and exactly where you'd like the material placed.

Do you deliver to commercial or construction sites?

Yes. We deliver gravel and sand to residential properties, rural land, commercial sites and construction projects throughout our service area.

Choosing Materials

Which gravel is best for a driveway?

For most driveways, 3/4" minus crushed basalt is the best choice. The angular rock and fines lock together when compacted, creating a firm surface that holds up to daily traffic. For soft or muddy ground, a base layer of 1-1/2" or 3" minus underneath adds strength.

What rock should I use for a French drain?

Use clean drain rock with no fines, like 3/4" – 1-1/2" crushed drain rock or round drain rock. Without fines, water moves freely through the rock and into the pipe instead of clogging it.

What's the difference between crushed and round rock?

Crushed rock is angular and locks together, so it compacts into a stable surface for driveways and pads. Round rock is smooth and doesn't lock together, which makes it better for drainage and decorative landscaping, but it shifts under tires.

How much material do I need?

Measure the length and width of your area, decide on a depth, then use our material calculator to estimate the yards you need. Not sure? Call or text and we'll help you figure it out.

Do you deliver boulders?

No. Our delivery service covers gravel, rock and sand, so we don't deliver boulders on their own. We only haul boulders for projects we're completing for our clients, such as boulder walls and landscaping.

Do you deliver bark dust or mulch?

No. We focus on aggregate products like gravel, rock and sand. We don't deliver bark dust, mulch or soil.

Estimates & Pricing

How does the estimate process work?

We get in touch within 1 to 2 business days to discuss your project, visit your property to assess the site and understand your goals, then provide a detailed written estimate that outlines the work, timeline and cost. You review it and let us know if you'd like to move forward. Request an estimate.

Do you need to see the property before giving an estimate?

Yes. Every property is different, so we visit to assess the site, check access and ground conditions, and understand your goals. That's how we make sure the estimate reflects the real job.

Is there any obligation?

No. Requesting an estimate is just the start of a conversation. We'll help you understand what your project involves, and you decide if and when to move forward.

How much will my project cost?

Every property is different, so cost depends on the size of the project, site conditions and materials. After we visit your property, you'll get a detailed written estimate that outlines the work, timeline and cost.

How much do you charge per hour?

We don't charge by the hour. We bid by the job, so you know the total cost before any work begins. Your written estimate outlines the work, timeline and cost for your project, so there are no surprises from a running clock.

Can you give me a price over the phone?

Every project is different, so we usually can't give an exact price without seeing it. But a lot of times we can give you a price range over the phone for what a project like yours might cost.

Do you have pricing minimums?

Yes. Minimums vary depending on the project type, location and equipment needed. Share a few details about your project and we're happy to tell you what our minimum would be.

How soon can you start?

Once your estimate is approved, we'll get you on the schedule and work with you to pick dates. Timing depends on the season and project size, and we'll give you a realistic start date up front.

How long does a typical project take?

A driveway install might take a few days, while larger site preparation or land clearing projects can take one to two weeks. You'll get a realistic timeline up front and updates along the way.

Do you work year-round?

Yes. We work throughout the year and plan around weather and ground conditions to keep your project moving.

Can you deliver the gravel for my project too?

Yes. We deliver gravel, rock and sand by dump truck, so your excavation and materials come from one local, family-run business.

What areas do you serve?

We serve 16 communities across Columbia, Washington and Multnomah counties, including St. Helens, Scappoose, Rainier, Vernonia, Clatskanie, Warren, Deer Island, Goble, Columbia City, Banks, Cornelius, Forest Grove, North Plains, Hillsboro, NW Portland and Sauvie Island. See our service area.

Working With Us

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. M4 Landworks is licensed, bonded and insured in Oregon, CCB# 246110.

Who will I be working with?

M4 Landworks is local, family-run and owner-operated. You'll work directly with Curtis, the owner, from the first conversation through the finished project.

Will you give me a bid no matter the project?

No. We're not the right contractor for every project, and we'd rather say no to a job than risk our reputation. If we know a reputable contractor who might be a better fit, we'll happily refer you.

Do you call for utility locates before digging?

Yes. Before we dig, utility locates are requested through Oregon's 811 call-before-you-dig system so marked public utilities can be avoided. Let us know about any private lines, like water, septic or power to outbuildings, since those aren't marked by 811.

Do you work on rural and acreage properties?

Yes. Much of our work is on rural land, acreage and long private roads. We're comfortable getting equipment into places that take some extra planning.

Do you work in neighborhoods?

We typically work on larger lots and acreage. If you have a larger lot in town that's accessible for our equipment, we can help.
